The Dodgers placed Blake Treinen on the injured list with a bruised lung and Brusdar Graterol on the injured list with inflammation in his right shoulder in order to finalize their opening day roster before their opening day matchup against the Padres in Seoul on Wednesday morning.
On March 9 at Camelback Ranch, Treinen took a line drive squarely in the chest and was forced out of the game with a bruise to his right ribcage. He did have a bruised lung on X-rays, but no fractured ribs. Treinen traveled to South Korea with the club with the intention of being ready to pitch in the first Seoul Series, but that clearly did not materialize.
Hip discomfort prevented Graterol from participating in spring training, and he later had shoulder pain. He did not go to South Korea with the squad, and he threw in just one Cactus League game, which was on March

With five of them being known or anticipated, that brings the total number of pitchers on the injured list to seven at the start of the season. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, three 60-day injured lists were formed during spring training: Dustin May, Clayton Kershaw, and Tony Gonsolin will all be sidelined for at least several months.
Walker Buehler was slow-played during spring training due to his innings limit following Tommy John surgery and flexor tendon repair. He will basically use April (or the majority of it) as his spring training before ramping up toward the majors.
Emmet Sheehan was predicted to start the season on the IL, but he was hampered in the spring. Sheehan’s slowdown throughout spring training due to what was initially supposed to be both shoulder and overall body stiffness is rather worrying. However, he has right forearm inflammation shown on the IL.
However, that worry was allayed by The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya, who was at Camelback Ranch throughout the spring and is currently with the squad in Seoul.
